Top five menu items at The Vig, your neighborhood tavern.

The Vig is an upscale neighborhood tavern based in Phoenix with five locations across the Valley. An ideal location for anyone looking for a great, easy place to congregate and enjoy some delicious food and fantastic service. When you arrive, you might not know exactly what to order. Their menu is expansive and includes everything from blistered shishito peppers to pozole, a red chili spiced mexican soup. Accordingly, you took to the search engine of your choice and found this article. Welcome! You’re in the right place. We’re gonna go over the top five menu items at The Vig.

Mac and Cheese

This is a basic one, but it needs to be here. The Mac and Cheese at The Vig is on their Main Street section of the menu for a reason. They make it with cavatappi pasta, a three cheese sauce, and bread crumbs for a bit of an elevated take on a classic mac and cheese dish. But here’s the kicker. You have the choice to add either chicken or green chili pork, and either of those will take your mac and cheese to a whole new level, making it a perfect savory dish that absolutely melts in your mouth.

Okay, two kiddie dishes in a row makes it sound like I eat like a garbage dump, and I do, but these nachos are ridiculous. They’re awesome to share, and they’re not your standard melted cheese on tortilla chips. Not only do they come loaded with a ton of toppings (cheddar, queso, black beans, olives, jalapeños, green onions, tomatoes, salsa, crema, guacamole) but you also have the option to add chicken or green chili pork, just like with the mac and cheese. They’re actually insane and could be a meal if health is no object to you.

Southwest Chopped Salad

For a bit of a healthier option, the Southwest Chopped Salad is my favorite on the menu. It’s not the healthiest salad on the list, but it’s practically the nachos with lettuce. This thing is stacked. It comes with romaine lettuce, black beans, roasted corn, watermelon radish, cherry tomatoes, cotija cheese, pepitas, tortilla strips, avocado, and avocado ranch dressing. Everything you could possibly want to make a salad really pop is on here.

Street Tacos

I would be remiss not to mention the street tacos. I’ve been all over the Valley looking for decent tacos and they’re in short supply. Everyone told me they’d be everywhere when I moved here but Barrio Queen and The Vig take the cake. At The Vig, you get 3 tacos with local tortillas, cabbage, pickled onions, crema & cotija. My personal favorites are the wild mexican shrimp with habanero salsa, but they also offer pork, cod, and veggie tacos if that’s more your speed.

Warm Brownie Sundae

To finish off your meal, I’m begging you to give the warm brownie sundae a try. It comes with a cocoa nib chocolate brownie, chocolate gelato, chocolate sauce, peanuts & whipped cream, and I’m telling you it’s every bit as good as it sounds. Seriously, it’s not too rich or overbearingly sweet, it’s just right and the peanuts really balance it out. You will not regret trying this brownie, and it will absolutely leave you wanting more.

The Vig has such a wide variety of options, but you truly can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. I haven’t personally tried everything, but everyone I’ve spoken to will confirm: there’s nothing bad on the menu! Check out The Vig here and give them a shot if you’re near any of their five locations!
